If you could ask the founders, they would probably say one word

“Necessity”

On October 4, 1904 in the little town of Glollinger, the need to protect the village from fire was growing more and more apparent. On that day the Neversink Fire Company No.1 was Born. On December 19, 1904 the company was incorporated. The company began with the first order of business. To purchase a fire truck. On November 21, 1905 a contract was signed by the fire company to buy from American LaFrance Fire Engine Company a No.1 – 60 Gallon Straight Chemical Engine at a cost of $1,330.00. This would be drawn by hand and housed in a stable which belonged to Robert Beck

On may 29, 1906 a lot was donated to the building committee to house the engine and hold the meeting in. The total cost of construction was $3,500.00 with all the labor being donated. The first meeting held in the new firehouse was on the evening of December 18, 1906. A dedication ceremony was held for the fire hall on February 12,1907

On May 6, 1919 a Swartz Chassis was purchased from the Miller Bros. Auto Company. The hand drawn unit was mounted onto the chassis.

On July 5, 1938 an American LaFrance fire truck was purchased.
